How We Actually Teach Finance

Most business owners don't need complex accounting degrees. You need to know what your P&L is telling you, whether you can afford that new hire, and when cash might get tight.

We skip the accounting jargon. Instead, you'll work with your own business numbers during weekly sessions. Each module builds on the last, so by month four you're doing cash flow projections without help.

  • Monthly live sessions with real business scenarios
  • Practice worksheets using your actual figures
  • Email support between sessions when questions come up
  • Access to recorded sessions for twelve months

Your Learning Journey

Eight months from basic concepts to confident decision-making. Our autumn 2025 cohort begins September 15.

1

Months 1-2: Reading Financial Statements

Learn what profit and loss statements actually show. We'll decode balance sheets and explain why cash isn't the same as profit. You'll start recognizing patterns in your own numbers.

2

Months 3-4: Cash Flow Management

Build realistic forecasts that account for seasonal changes. Practice spotting cash crunches before they happen. We cover invoice timing, payment terms, and managing supplier relationships.

3

Months 5-6: Pricing and Cost Analysis

Figure out what your products or services actually cost. Learn to price based on margins, not guesswork. We'll analyze which offerings make money and which don't.

4

Months 7-8: Growth Planning

Put it all together into financial plans that support business decisions. You'll model different scenarios, set realistic targets, and learn when to invest versus when to hold back.

Landscaping Business Owner

Before this program, I'd avoid looking at my bookkeeper's reports because they made no sense to me. Now I actually schedule time each week to review them. Last month I caught an error that would have cost us three grand. More importantly, I can finally have real conversations with my accountant about where the business is heading. The cash flow module alone was worth the investment.

Common Questions Before You Start

Here's what most people ask when considering our programs.

Do I need accounting experience?

Not at all. We start with the assumption you've never read a financial statement. If you can use a spreadsheet and understand basic arithmetic, you're ready. Most participants are business owners who've been avoiding their numbers for years.

How much time does this require each week?

Plan for about three hours weekly. That's two hours for the live session (recordings available if you miss one) and another hour working through exercises with your own business data. Some weeks take longer when you're building forecasts.

Will this replace my accountant or bookkeeper?

No, and it's not meant to. You'll still need professionals handling compliance, tax returns, and complex reporting. What changes is your ability to understand what they're showing you and ask better questions about your business.

What if my business is still small?

The concepts work regardless of size. Whether you're turning over sixty thousand or six million, you need to understand margins, cash timing, and cost structures. We've had sole traders and teams of twenty in the same cohort.

When does the next program begin?

Our autumn 2025 intake starts September 15 and runs through April 2026. We also offer a condensed winter session beginning in June 2026. Spaces are limited to fifteen participants per cohort to maintain quality discussion.

Ready to Understand Your Numbers?

Our next intake is scheduled for September 2025. The program runs eight months with monthly live sessions, practical exercises, and ongoing support.

We keep groups small so there's time for specific questions about your business. If you're tired of making decisions based on gut feel instead of actual data, this might be worth exploring.
